Bowmans favors Team Canada to win World Hockey Championship
April 29, 2005
Bowmans.com oddsmakers have made Team Canada a heavy favorite to
win its third straight World Hockey Championship when the 2005 title
is awarded May 15 in Vienna, Austria.
Bowmans, the worldwide leader in online gaming for more than twenty
years, has Canada at +140 to add a third straight world title to
its current trophy case, which includes an Olympic gold medal and
World Cup Championship. Bowmans has made Sweden, who has lost the
final game to Team Canada the last two years, and the Czech Republic,
both second choice favorites at +350 before the tournament begins
April 30.
"Canada is geared more than other countries to the
World Hockey
Championship in 2005," said Chris Milward, CEO of Bowmans.
"With no NHL hockey this year, this tournament takes
on greater significance and we feel Canada will respond."
Bowmans has made Slovakia the fourth choice at +450, Russia at
+600 and the USA and Finland at +650. To wager on a long shot, Bowmans
has placed both Denmark and Slovenia at +25000; meaning a $100 wager
would return $25,000 in the case of either of those two countries
winning.
