Australian casino revenue growth halts
According to a survey held by the Australian Casino Association
the growth of Australian casino revenues has halted, while
the number of visits to Australian casinos has more or less
remained the same.
Chris Downey, chairman of the Australian Casino Association,
attributes this trend to a maturing gambling market. Critics
say they are uncertain whether this trend will continue, and
casino revenues might even increase if casinos decided to
introduce new products and promotions.
Spokesmen of various anti-gambling groups commented that
the time to cut back on harm minimisation initiatives has
not yet come, though they feel the sharp decline in casino
revenue growth shows their initiatives are working.
