Another Newcomer Enters New Jersey Online Gambling Market
January 20, 2015
The newest entrant into the New Jersey online gambling market is
the California Indian tribe, Pala. The Pala Indians have launched
their online gambling site in New Jersey in partnership with Borgata.
The site, PalaCasino.com began taking wagers in December. "We
had a solid weekend and we have yet to start marketing," Jim
Ryan, CEO of Pala Interactive said, "We believe we are breaking
into the New Jersey market at the perfect time."
It was not a good year for New Jersey’s online gambling market
as revenues didn’t come close to projects. The early projections
were extremely optimistic as they were about a billion dollars.
The reality is going to be just over a tenth of that. Yearly figures
will likely be between $120 million to $150 million. The addition
of Pala into the New Jersey market will help the overall numbers
for the state and Pala will be in full operation with online gaming
and poker for 2015.
The Pala Indian tribe runs the Pala Casino and Spa in San Diego
County, California. They will be using one of the Borgata's online
gambling licenses in the state of New Jersey. That means they will
be taking wagers only from customers in the state of New Jersey
for their Pala Casino site.
