Review:
We think the most popular right now is probably Party Poker. They have been around since 2001 and is hosted by Mike Sexton.
PartyPoker.com is powered by PartyGaming a recognized international leader in online gaming. The Party gaming brand started in 1997 and appears to be exclusive to the Party"" brand, meaning PartyPoker is the only poker room using their software which seems like a pretty sound investment since their stock is steadily on the rise.
The Party Poker software is easy to download and your online ready to play in a matter of minutes. We like the fact that they don't have avatars(an image that represents yourself at the table) as they can get a little distracting.
Here is a list of the con's:
-starting stack is only $1000 in chips(at least in the tournaments we've played)
-Table of contents for tournament play is in ascending order so if you want to look for a tournament, you need to scroll to the bottom of the list and sometimes even in the middle and you would have to click on it to see how much time you have before the tournament starts
-unless it's late at night and you're the only one up or you may be alone in the office, there can and will be distractions. Your children playing, a good movie on the television, the phone's ringing or maybe even your boss sticking his head around the corner every few minutes. When playing at Party Poker you MUST pay attention! Most sites have audio when any kind of move is being made. There's no sound when a player folds or checks. There is a slight sound when a player calls. The only distinct sound is when a player bet's or raises.
-Min deposit is $50. Most sites minimum is $20 or $25 and some are even $10 min. Party Poker's min. is a little steep.
Here is a list of the pro's:
-Easy to download and register
-They don't use Avatars
-Pleasant chat....we never witnessed any disruptive chatting
-easy to bet, raise, call or fold
-quick cashier access in making deposits and withdrawals
............ so stay focused and you'll have a pleasant experience at Party Poker.
